Vacationing Your Health Problems Away
Holidays are taken for a whole host of reasons, but ask most people and they will tell you that reduced stress is one of their main criteria. Their are multiple reasons why people might be stressed or anxious and just want to leave all their troubles behind at the airport and live a different life for a week or two. What most people are unaware of however, is just how much difference a vacation can have on your health and what it is that makes the difference? Here we take a closer look at why exactly vacations can sometimes be what your body is crying out for.
The Sun. Considered a healer even by earliest man, the sun continues to benefit our health in many ways. On top of all the more obvious benefits that the sun brings, such as letting us experience more of the outdoors and giving us a tan, their are deeper, more psychological benefits also. Low levels of light cause the receptors in the eye to trigger a chain reaction in which the body is flooded with melatonin. The result of this is a feeling of sleepiness, sluggishness and fatigue. When the sun is beaming however, when you’re enjoing hot Canada holidays for example, the eyes take in a lot of light, less melatonin is produced and we feel more energized, happy and less stressed.
Less worry. There is an inbuilt system that gets triggered when we are anxious or are worrying about anything that prepares us for “fight or flight” but does our bodies no good at all in the medium-long term. The hypothalamus triggers the release of additionally adrenaline and cortisol into the blood stream from the adrenal glands. This then increases heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, and a whole host of other bodily functions. If these are maintained at a high rate for a sustained length of time then damage can occur to any of the organs involved. By going on new and fun trips like fun Orlando holidays to Disney Land or maybe beach resort American holidays, you’ll get some time away from your problems, get some distractions, and give your body a chance to rest. Believe it or not, many doctors and other medical professionals are now suggesting to their patients to take holidays as a method of combating stress.
